Latest Boxing NewsUFC 118: Tips for UFC Betting UFC 116: Wanderlei Silva vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama 2021-07-06 The second matchup of UFC nfl football betting Online Bingo Rooms Play Bingo US 116 on July 3, 2010 will be an enticing battle between 33-year-old wunderkind Wanderlei Silva and 34-year-old Japanese middleweight and judo-master Yoshihiro Akiyama. UFC betting is keeping a close on these two older fighters. Both fighters are aging, but each of them is more than capable of providing exciting action in the ring. Silva will turn 34 on the day of the fight, but here’s what else to look for in the battle between Silva and Akiyama. Five years ago, Silva was at the top of his game, manhandling every fighter in PrideFC. But when he switched to UFC a while back, the transition didn’t go so well. Silva has now won only two of his last seven battles in the Octagon and only one of his six before he beat Michael Bisping at UFC 110. As for Akiyama, he hasn’t lost in five years. His last loss came in 2005 to Jerome LeBanner, and his current record is a sparkling 13-1. In February, White said that the battle would not just be looked forward to by fans but also by the actual fighters. “Akiyama wants to fight Wanderlei very bad,” White said. But instead of this battle being held in Japan — as was speculated to be a possibility by some media members and fans because of Akiyama’s roots and his known wishes to hold a fight there at some point — it will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas as a precursor to the Lesnar v. Carwin matchup. Who can you expect to win? That depends on what kind of style you expect to prevail. Will it be Silva’s frantic style, adjusting to a new weight class at 185 pounds? Or will it be Akiyama’s calm and calculated judo-style that prevails? Keep in mind that Silva will be more powerful than Akiyama. Silva typically weighs more than 200 for UFC fights while Akiyama has made his living at 185. That may mean that Silva won’t be as powerful as usual, but it will also likely mean that his stamina will be longer than usual — and that is a very good thing for Silva. And all UFC betting are keeping a close eye on this fight. There were rumors that the fight was fixed for UFC 115, which was to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia on June 12th. But the officials have announced that the fight is fixed for UFC 116. There is no official confirmation but the fight is expected to take place in the MGM grand Garden Arena on July 3rd. The UFC 116 has already got into the news as Brock Lesnar who is the current heavyweight champion would be also in the ring. His opponent has still not been decided but there is much anticipation on the fight. Lesnar has a huge fan following and is the favorite for the fight. Most bookies are betting high on Silva due to his recent performances. In his last fight, UFC 110 he had a unanimous victory over his opponent Michael Bisping. This victory has given high an upper hand on his scheduled fight against Yoshihiro Akiyama. Earlier there were some doubts raised on Silva’s performance and many even believed that he was not viable for a long term. In the UFC 92, Silva lost the fight 1-3 against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson much to the surprise of UFC betting fans everywhere.
Akiyama is sure to give Silva a run for his money. The fighter made his debut in UFC on July last year in UFC 100 against Alan Belcher. He won the fight after a controversial split decision but was the clear winner from the view of the audience. In an interview on last February, Akiyamo had commented that he was very sad on the cancelled fight that was fixed with Silva and expected that he would get a chance to fight Silva in the near future. The fight between Silva and Akiyama was originally scheduled for UFC 115, but it was later postponed. Then promotion did announce that the fight would be a summer event. Silva might be carrying huge experience behind him, but would have to bring his full power out as Akiyama would surely give him some good fight. Akiyama has technically not lost a fight since March 2005. Two of his most hyped fights against Kazushi Sakuraba and Kazuo Mizaki ended in a controversial “no contest” results.
